Looking back, it has been 3 weeks since I have updated my blog. A lot has happened in 3 weeks, but I am so tired, I am not sure I will remember it all.
When last I wrote, Mark and Pastor were just finishing the arch at the front of the church. As I write today, the church is DONE! Well, sort of. We had our dedication service yesterday. Mark and I started the day at church at 8:00 a.m., and left at 6:00 p.m. I did have a 45 min. break at home during that time. We had 2 services, one at 9 and one at 4, so ministers and parishioners could choose which service that they could come to. We had about 155 people at the morning service, and about 90 at the evening service. Choir sang at both services, so I and Lexi had to be there for that. We had a meal after the morning service, and then a slide presentation of the building project from start to where we are now, which is not quite done, then ministers that use to serve talked about memories that they had and others in the congregation spoke. I made the cake for the meal, and since we did not hardly make a dent in it, we reserved it again after the evening service. Overall, it was a wonderful day full of memories.
Earlier in the week, the girls received their pins for girl scouts. They had a ceremony and then a pot luck meal. The girls were suppose to invite special people in their lives, and since we don't have Grandparents that are close, we invited the Strawn's to share the night with us. Sarah was/is a girl scout, so it was special for her.
We also had Thanksgiving somewhere in this last week, oh yeh, it was on Thursday. We headed to the ranch in the morning, then came home that same day, as Mark and I both had to work on Friday. We ended up with 19 people for dinner. It was a nice day, so I did what the weight watcher leader said, and took a walk. Unfortunately slow kids went also, so did quite get the heart rate up, but it was better than what Mark did, which was take a nap.
Lonnie and Verona were able to come down on Saturday so they could go to the dedication service on Sunday. Verona helped with the cakes I was making, and brought dinner. It was so nice not to have to make a meal on top of everything else. She also worked on cleaning tips and bowls as I was done with them. I decided that 1. I am not making any more cakes, and 2. If I do make another cake, Verona is coming down for clean up duty.
Well, I think that should catch everyone up on what has been happening in the Douthit house. We are now heading into the busy Christmas season. I have my office at church to move into the new building, plus all the advent and Christmas things to do at the church. I guess things aren't going to slow down for a while.
